Trick or Treating

We (and by we, I mean me) had a hard time figuring out costumes for the kids this year.  I really wanted Em and Evan to wear coordinating boy/girl costumes, but I just couldn't find anything I really liked.  So then I decided to just let Em pick hers after finding the fireman costume for Evan.  Em picked out a cute candy corn witch costume.  I ordered it (size 2T-4T) and when we got it and I tried it on her, it was huge!  I tried and tried to pin it to make it work, but there was just no way.  Em was really disappointed about it.  I packed it away hoping that maybe in a couple years it will fit.  Em then threw out the idea of being Sofia the first, which is one of her favs, but I just wasn't excited about her wearing a princess dress.  She has a ton of princess dresses that she plays dress up with all the time.  I really wanted her to be something different than a princess.  Luckily I happened to come across a butterfly costume and Em fell in love with it, so that's what we went with.

This year for Halloween we went trick or treating with my brother and nieces.  Em was super excited about going after trick or treating at my office and I knew Evan would enjoy it too.  We were right about Evan.  He loved going door to door with the big kids.  He knew exactly what to do at each house.  After a few houses, Evan couldn't keep up with his sister and cousins, so Shawn picked him up and carried him past a few houses in order to catch back up.  He was not happy passing by houses without going up to get candy. . haha.   Evan made it up and down 2 streets before he started getting a bit tired.  Him and I called it quits and went back home, while Em and Shawn stayed out for more.  Shawn told me Em did really well, but after a while said to him "I didn't realize we would be walking this much!"  Haha.  If it wasn't for her cousins, I think Em would have thrown the towel in much sooner.

The best group shot I could get.  (Kevin's friends joined us with their 2 girls too)

I tried hard for a pic of me with the kids and Evan just wasn't having it.

So I gave up on him and made it a mommy/daughter picture instead.  :)

Loved the way he kept his arm up in order to keep his bag on his shoulder.  He did this the whole time!
