Day 2 : We're Off To Lake Tahoe

Tuesday morning, we woke up early (and by early, I mean Em was awake at 4:30 am!) and got both cars packed to the top and headed off to Lake Tahoe.  I was so excited about this part of our trip.  I couldn't wait to just relax on the beach!  We had about a 2.5 hour drive and Emily slept about half of it.  When you live in Texas, you get very excited when you see mountains and Shawn and I did!  The drive was so pretty and the weather in Lake Tahoe was awesome!!  We were used to 100+ temperatures and the highs in Tahoe were in the 80's and the lows were in the 40's.  We couldn't have asked for better weather.

Excited to go to Lake Tahoe!

We arrived at our condo (Sierra Shores) in South Lake Tahoe mid afternoon.  We checked in and then walked over to our condo.  It was AWESOME!  I think all of our mouths dropped when we saw the view from our condo.  There was a grassy area (which was perfect for the girls to run around on ) and then down just a few steps and we were on our own private beach.  We couldn't have asked for a better location.  And the best part was, we had the entire complex to ourselves.  Our condo was 3 bedrooms and 3 full baths.  This worked out great because Emily was able to sleep in a pack and play in her own room.

Waiting to check-in

After arriving, Shawn and Luke unloaded the cars (with the help of the girls) while Steph and I put everything away.  Once everything was unpacked, we relaxed on the patio for a bit and checked out the lake.  I was so surprised how clear the water was!

Once we checked out the water, we walked down the beach to the pier to eat some lunch.  It was pretty hot out once you were in the sun for a while and I ended up with some nice tan lines by the time lunch was done.

Trying to get a family picture

After lunch we went back to the condo and let the girls play while we sent the boys to the grocery store.  Somehow they managed to take an hour and half to buy just a few groceries at the grocery store across the street.  Steph and I are still waiting for them to tell us what they were really doing.  :)  When they finally arrived home we grilled out some hotdogs and brats and then put the girls to bed.  The four of us enjoyed sitting out on the patio enjoying the cool Tahoe night.

Stay tuned to hear more about our trip. . .
