Day 3 : Up The Mountain We Go

Wednesday morning we were up early once again.  This time Em was nice enough to let us sleep until 6:00.  She was finally starting to shift to California time now.  Shawn took Em on a drive in the car so I could sleep in a little and when they returned home he made some french toast for everyone.  Before we left on our trip, we decided each couple would take turns cooking breakfast and dinner each day.

After breakfast we all finished getting ready and headed out the door to ride the Heavenly Gondola.  It was a 12 minute ride up in an all enclosed glass gondola.  Shawn and I had the seats looking down on the way up and I must say we were up high!!  Luckily, the girls were great on the ride up.  We stopped off at the observation deck on our way up and the views were amazing!  Emily enjoyed it up there until she realized you could see through the deck down below.  After she saw that, she wanted to be carried the rest of the time.

Waiting patiently to leave

More waiting. . .

On our way up . . it was hot in the gondola!

Our view going up.

Our condo was very close to the pier.

After the observation deck, we climbed back on the gondola to head up to the very top.  Right when you get off, they had this cute little playhouse.  Both girls loved walking inside.  They also had some children activities  (inflatable slides, etc) along with tubing.  Shawn really wanted to take Em tubing, but she wasn't tall enough to ride.  We all ended up in the restaurant to have a snack before heading down to the bottom.

We made our way back to our condo and put Em down for a quick nap.  The boys went and got the jet ski and then set up on our private beach in front of the hotel.   When Em woke up, we headed down there to meet them.  Unfortunately, the water was so high this year, the beach in front of our condo didn't have much of a sandy area, so we had to set up beach pretty close to the water.  We also were in a shaded area and it was pretty chilly.  I think this made Em not very excited about the beach.  The beach wasn't her favorite thing to do this day.  We ended up just staying a short time before heading back to have dinner.

Not so sure about the sand and cold water

It was chilly!

Tonight it was Steph and Luke's turn to cook dinner and they made a great steak dinner!  The girls even helped shuck the corn.  Em was so into it, that I couldn't even get her to look at me for a picture.  We even let her try some for dinner (she's never had it on the cob) and she loved it!!  She ate 2 pieces of corn on the cob.  After dinner, Steph surprised me with a birthday cake for dessert.

Doesn't get much better than this!

After dinner, the boys gave the girls tubs and we put them to bed.  We were all pretty tired this night and the boys were both in bed early.  And I'll admit Steph, the pregnant one, was the last one standing.

Stay tuned for day 4. .
