Iced in

The last several days have been crazy!  It all started early Tuesday morning when the sleet began to fall.  An inch and half of ice fell on the streets and the first day of no school/daycare started.  Shawn had plans to fly out early Tuesday morning, but his flight was cancelled.  Luckily he was able to get out Wednesday morning.  So that has left Emily and I to fend for ourselves.  I just had no idea the ice would last as long as it did.  By Tuesday night, they had already cancelled school for Wednesday.  So Emily and I spent another day holed up inside. The statewide rolling blackouts started Wednesday, but somehow our house was spared.

I couldn't believe that by Wednesday afternoon, they had already started cancelling school for Thursday.  By Tuesday afternoon I was going stir crazy, I couldn't imagine staying home another day.  Plus, this was a really busy week for me at work, so I started thinking of a backup plan.  Thank goodness my sister-in-law, Julie, was able to come through for me.  She kept Emily today so I could go into to work and get some stuff done.  After driving on the roads, I knew that there was no way school would be in session on Friday.  And I was right.  This afternoon, they cancelled school for Friday.  So Emily and I will be spending yet another day inside.

I just can't get over this weather.  We've now been below freezing since Monday and aren't supposed to get above freezing until Saturday.  Oh, and there's a chance for more snow in the morning.  Seriously?  I've lived in Texas for a while now and I can't ever remember being out of school for 4 days in a row.  I used to love snow days as a kid and now all I want is for school to be back in session!  And actually, I think Emily is just as ready to get back.  I think she's bored at home.

Here are some pics from Wednesday.   (Yes, we had a PJ day)

I don't know what show we were watching, but Emily was amazed!

We were watching some cooking show and Emily started doing the "more" sign.  I had to tell her I didn't have any of the food they were cooking.  She had to settle for some more crackers.

Spinning in the office chair, kept her occupied for about 20 min.

Emily and Lily were both excited to see this bunny in our backyard.

And here are some pics Julie sent me today.  I'm pretty sure Emily didn't miss me at all.  It looks like she had a ton of fun playing with her cousins.
