Christmas Eve

This year we switched up our Christmas schedule a bit.  Instead of celebrating Christmas Eve with my cousins, we celebrated with just my immediate family.  We went to church with Kevin, Julie and the girls and then went to my parents house for dinner and presents.  It just happened to work out that we could do that this year which meant we had no where to be Christmas Day until 2:00!  I was very excited about that.

A couple of funny stories to remember about the night.  I had Shawn put the kids Santa gifts together about a week ahead of time and just had them in the guest room.  I closed the guest room door and the kids have just stayed away, not thinking anything of it.  Well, literally 30 minutes before we are out the door for church on Christmas Eve, I come downstairs to Evan walking out of the guest room and he says, "Mommy, did you get me the HQ?  I saw it in the guest room."  HQ, as in PJ Masks Headquarters that he asked Santa for. I couldn't believe he had gone in there.  I was so bummed.  I just ignored his question and asked him to stay out.  I knew if he saw it, he had to have also seen Em's scooter and barbie camper too.  Luckily he dropped it and Em had no idea what he was talking about when he said HQ.  I just decided that if he said anything Christmas morning, that I'd say Santa sent some of your toys Christmas Eve morning with our elf, Buddy, because his sleigh was too full.  Thankfully though, he didn't say anything when he saw his presents Christmas morning.  Whew!

Also. . .so when my mom asked what Evan wanted for Christmas I said a PJ masks costume.  She said she found PJ Masks PJ's and I thought even better!  Well, when he opened them they were the girl version. . .owlette pinkish/red pj's.  She didn't know the show and they were in the boy section, so she just assumed that's what I meant.  Poor Evan.  He was so excited about the PJ Mask pj's, but told us he can't ever wear them to school for PJ day because his friends would make fun of him because they are girl PJ's.  He really wanted to wear them that night at home though, so even though my mom had gotten him Christmas PJ's, I let him wear them.  So you'll notice Evan is wearing owlette girl PJ's in all our Christmas morning and Christmas Eve night pics. Ha.  Don't worry, I'm on the look out for the boy version of the PJ Mask PJ's.

We got home from my parents house around 7:30 and we made sure to put out the reindeer food and cookies for Santa.  It didn't take long at all for the kids to fall asleep.
