January Little Things

I've been slacking on my posting so far this year, so here are a few highlights of what we've been up to this month:

We hosted my whole family over for dinner on New Year's Day.  It's always fun having everyone over, but gosh it's a lot of work, especially with 2 little kids that seem to make a mess as soon as you've cleaned up the house.  I didn't take many pics, but here's a few that of Evan that I got.

Watching the rolls rise.

We went out on a date night with some great friends of ours, the Gists.

We went to Pinstack with Uncle Kevin, Aunt Julie, Lauren and Natty.  This was the second time for our kids to bowl.  Evan liked it longer this time, but still wore out pretty quickly.  It didn't help that all the kid ramps were broken and it made it very hard for him to get his ball all the way down the lane.  In fact, there were a couple times that the ball only made it about 3/4 of the way down and then just stopped.  :( They all fully enjoyed the video games after bowling though and then we all ate lunch in the restaurant before heading home.

We enjoyed our slower weekends and some of the nice weather by letting the kids ride Evan's jeep over to the park.  His driving skills are getting much better.  Poor Em is still terrified to drive it.

Shawn and Emily had off on MLK day and they had a fun day with Tommy and Aubrey at Dave and Busters.  That night Evan and I came home to them cooking chicken enchilada's.  I think Em really enjoyed her Daddy/Daughter day.

We took the kids to the AA flight museum one Saturday morning.  It was our first time going.  The kids enjoyed it.

Emily had a girl scout outing with her troop at Young Chef Academy.  They made pizzas.  While we were there, Shawn and Evan had a daddy/son dinner date for pizza.

Emily with her bestie from school and girl scouts, Emma.  Everyone says these 2 look so much alike.

And here are just a few random pictures of Evan from this month.  This boy just makes me laugh all the time!

Not ashamed at all to be playing with pink toys. . or walking around without pants on.

See that big bruise on his forehead?  He ran smack into a pole outside at school.  Came home with a bump about the size of a golf ball on his head.  School says he took it like a champ and hardly cried.  I'm scared of what an xray of this child's head looks like.  Sigh!

He wanted to play outside one afternoon, so I told him to go get some warm clothes on.  . .

Apparently he thought a winter vest and hat would make up for the fact that he has short sleeves on.
