Shawn and I went on a 7 day Caribbean cruise for our honeymoon. It's still my most favorite trip we've been on. We had 4 stops along the way. . .Aruba, Curacao, St. Maarten, and St. Thomas. I had been on a cruise before, but this was Shawn's first time on one. It's one of my favorite ways to travel. I love getting to see lots of places while having a "home base" of sorts. We went all out on this trip and got a suite. The first cruise I went on, there were 3 of us sharing an inside room. So this was a huge step up. I'm not sure we'll ever be able to go on another cruise without staying in a suite. We had a huge balcony and ended up spending a ton of time on it. The days we were at sea, we would just relax on the balcony and read a book. And each morning, we would order room service and eat our breakfast on the balcony.
First night on the ship. We barely made it before the muster drill. Our flight was delayed due to bad weather and so we didn't have much time to spare at all before the boat left!
First dinner on the ship. We had the late dinner sitting. We were at a table with 2 other couples. We were a bit disappointed to find out that we weren't seated with other newlyweds, but we still enjoyed our table. One couple was from the US and the other was from Sweden.
First full day at sea. We spent time just lounging by the pool and checking out the boat.
First formal dinner. This was the only formal night we made it to. The other night we just got room service because we had an appt. for a couple's massage during out scheduled dinner time.
First stop - Aruba
Iguanas were everywhere.
We were supposed to go on a dinner catamaran that night, but the boat wouldn't start. So we ended up back on the ship and our money refunded.
Second stop - Curacao
We had my most favorite excursion at this stop - swimming with the dolphins. This was something I always wanted to do. It was awesome!! I hope I can do this again one day.
At dinner this night all the waiters sang to us.
3rd stop - St. Maarten. This was our favorite island. I don't have pics of it, but we did a jet ski/snorkel excursion. The water was super choppy, but it was still really fun.
This is Shawn posing with all our purchases. We spent a lot of money on this island. This is where Shawn and I bought each other our wedding gifts. He got a fancy watch and I got diamond stud earrings.
The chef's serenaded us this night.
Last stop - St. Thomas. We didn't have any excursion planned on this island. We went shopping in the morning and then made our way over to Magen's Bay.
We had to take an open air bus over to the beach. It was a bit scary going over the huge hills.
Our last night before dinner. Oh how I wish I was still this skinny (and tan). :)
