After we got back from our trip to Tahoe, the kids still had a few more days of Christmas break. Evan enjoyed playing with some of his new toys. . .a remote control car and a drone.

| Unfortunately after just a few days of flying it, Evan flew it outside and lost it somewhere. But don't worry, the next week, Shawn just bought a new, bigger drone. :) |
Shawn and the kids saw a hot air balloon in the sky and thought it was going to land in our neighborhood park. However, there was a strong gust of wind that took it up again, so they didn't get to see it land.
Shawn took the kids, along with one of Em's friends to go see the movie, Bumble Bee on their final day of break.
The contractors that did our remodel sent over a professional photographer to take some pictures of our house, so they could use them on their website.
.
Evan enjoyed several nights sitting by the fire.
Each month our school focuses on a character trait. At the monthly assembly, each teacher picks 2 kids in their class that best exhibit that character trait to receive an award. Evan was picked for his class for showing zest. We were super proud of him.

| I made him turn his shirt back around so I could take a picture of his award. |
One morning the kids woke me up yelling "it snowed, it snowed." I expected to look outside and see a foot of snow on the ground based on their reaction. But nope, this is what I saw. Ha. Only when you live in TX!
One Saturday night, we went out with our friends, the Gists. We went to dinner and then to an escape room. Let's just say the escape room made us all feel really dumb. Ha. We did escape but only because we got lots of clues. We ended the night having some drinks to make us feel better.
Em has been in dog heaven this month between going over to the Gist's house for dinner one night and also to Kevin and Julie's one night.
After just a couple week at school, the kids (and Shawn) were off for MLK day. Shawn and his mom took them to the Fort Worth zoo and then out to lunch. Evan was in heaven looking at all the snakes and even getting to touch one! He is obsessed with snakes!
They came home and went to the park to fly kites.
One night I went to go turn Evan's lamp off before I went to bed and I couldn't get his bedroom door open. I had Shawn come help me and when we finally got the door opened, we realized he stuck his stuffed animal basket in front of the door and lined all his books up to fall like dominoes. You just never know what you are going to find in his room!
Em got a face mask in her stocking and couldn't wait to try it out. It was supposed to look like a koala. :)
We had Kevin, Julie and the girls over for dinner one night. Later, Shawn found this pic on Em's ipad.
Whew, for a slow month, we still did a bunch. But next month it's about to get crazy again. ALL the sports practices and some games start back up. So long to our quiet weekends!
