Evan's Big Boy Room

Well, we finally did it!  We kicked Evan out of his crib this past weekend and haven't looked back.

For several months now, I've been talking to him about moving to a big boy bed and he always tells me that he just wants to stay in his crib forever.  With him sleeping so well in it, it was hard to say no to that.  But I knew with him about to turn 3, that it was time.  Shawn and Evan went to the mattress store Saturday morning and by Saturday afternoon we had a mattress delivered to the house!  Shawn told me Evan could have cared less about the mattress when they were at the store, but boy was he excited when it got delivered!  I reluctantly told Shawn that we should just make the switch on Saturday, so he had a few nights in it before having to go back to school.   Watching Shawn take apart the crib was a bit emotional for this mama.  It wasn't hard at all for me when we moved Emily, but man, this time was really hard.  After all, there's a chance this might be the last time we ever have a crib in our house.  I pretty much fought back tears the entire time Shawn changed it to a big bed.

One last look at his baby room.

Daddy had lots of helpers.

We couldn't keep him off his bed!

We got his bed all changed over and finished up the decorating on Sunday and Monday.   I love how it all turned out.  I think I might still want a rug for the floor, but that can come later.

One of my favorite parts of his room now.  This is a pinterest project that Shawn made for me. . .rain gutter shelves!

Overall Evan has done really well in his bed.  The first night he came out once around 4:00 am because he wanted some water, but that was it.  The other 2 nights he didn't come out at all until he woke up in the morning.  Naps have gone equally as well.  I'd say he's done even better than Emily did when we transitioned her.  Of course he's almost 6 mos. older than she was.

All tucked in for his first night.  He looks so little in his big bed.

I can't believe my baby is growing up.  Slowly, but surely all the baby items are leaving the house.
