Emily Turns 5!!!!!

On Tuesday as of 1:08 pm, we had a 5 year old!  To me, turning 5 is a big birthday, so I really wanted to make this birthday a special one for Em.  Shawn and I both took off work and we kept Em home from school.

I wanted to take her to do something fun and that we've never done before.  I had a few ideas, but ended up buying tickets for us to go to the Perot Museum of Nature and Science.  It's somewhere I've wanted to check out since it opened a year or so ago and I've heard awesome things about it.  I was hoping Em would have a blast.

It was a really neat place!  We started at the top and worked our way down through each area.  We had the first time slot and it ended up working out great.  We had several areas completely to ourselves!

Em was making the hawk on the screen fly.

We stayed at the museum about an hour and a half and then walked over to Klyde Warren Park and had lunch.  This was another place I had never been, so it was neat checking it out.

We finished up lunch and decided we would take Em to see a movie.  We saw Alexander and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.  I thought it was really cute.  I think it may have bored Em a little since it wasn't animated, but she said she liked it.

Em decided she wanted to skip dance class at night.  I think she was pretty worn out from the day.  I picked up Evan and we had dinner at home followed by some birthday cupcakes.

We had a great day spending time with our 5 year old!  It was fun having some one on one time with just her!
