Evan (my little man),
How is it that you are now more than half way to turning 1?! I can't believe my little man is getting to be so big! You've had an exciting month with lots of firsts!
We celebrated your first Christmas this month and along with it, came your first snowfall. We were on the go much of Christmas day, but you were such a trooper!
This month you moved up to the older side of the infant room at school. I think you love having more room to play, so much so that you aren't napping quite as well at school and are coming home a sleepy boy!
Starting this month, you are now eating 3 meals a day. You have oatmeal and fruit for breakfast, 1 jar (stage 1) of veggies for lunch and 1 jar of veggies for dinner. So far you have tried pears, bananas, apples, squash, sweet potatoes, peas and carrots. The carrots and sweet potatoes are your favorites. You don't like your baby food cold though. So if it's an open jar that's been in the fridge, we have to heat it up to get you to eat it. You love watching us eat our food, so I know once we start you on table food, you won't be touching the baby food. Now that you are eating, you seem to finally be putting on some weight! I hope it stays. You've started learning how to use a sippy cup this month. You usually bend your whole head back in order to get the water out. You haven't quite figured out that you only need to tip the cup. But you'll get it soon! You still don't have any teeth.
Unfortunately you ended up with your second ear infection this month. It was so bad that your ear drum ruptured. :( I hate seeing you sick, but you just finished up the antibiotics and are back to your happy self. We're hoping you stay well for a while now!
You reached a big milestone this month, you are now sitting up completely stable! We can put you down on the floor and you will play with your toys for quite a while! This month you have also learned how to clap your hands. :)
You are still a very inconsistent sleeper. There are nights where you have slept straight through from 7:45 - 6:45 and nights where you wake up 3-4 times and then wake up for good at 5:30. I'd say you sleep through the night about 50% of the time. I'm hoping that percentage keeps getting higher! You still love sleeping on your stomach at night and just this month I have started letting you sleep with your lovey. You seem to do better when you have something to snuggle with. We've made some strides on the naps at home. I'd say you nap in your crib a quarter of the time, but the majority is still in your swing. You're still not really on any kind of nap schedule though. You just take several naps during the day. We've noticed you talk a lot when you are really tired and as Shawn calls it, you do a death roll when we try to hold you and you are tired.
You continue to be quite the talker. You love to babble. You now say lalalala, mamama, babababa, and dadadada. You haven't shortened them to say mama or dada yet, but I think you are starting to figure out which one to yell depending on who is in the room. I usually hear you say mamamamama when I'm in the room and it's dadadada when Daddy is in the room. Along with all your babbling, you also still grunt to let us know you aren't happy. And we've noticed you started babbling more when you are sleepy. You've also learned how to make a clicking noise with your tongue.
We got the jumper out for you this month and it's quickly become a favorite. We moved it downstairs and put the excersaucer upstairs as you seem to like the jumper more. You've also started reaching up for us whenever you want us to pick you up.
Your sister is still your favorite person. You LOVE it when she plays with you and she always gets the biggest laughs out of you. You are also very aware of Lily now. You love to watch her and get very excited it she actually gets close enough to let you pet her.
Starting this month, you are doing sooo much better in the car. You can still get fussy, but nothing like it used to be. No more screaming the whole car ride. Thank goodness!
You are still a fan of your paci. In fact, it seems like you start liking it more and more each month. You now love to take it in and out of your mouth to play with it.
Trying to change your diaper is starting to become extremely difficult. You try to roll over and you want to grab anything and everything you can, whether it's the watch on my wrist or the lotion I'm trying to put on you. I usually have to make sure I have something for you to play with the entire time I'm trying to change you.
